Landscape: Panorama

panorama; little rock; pinnacle mountain

Week 8’s challenge was to do a Panorama of a Landscape. I think we were supposed to do it with an actual camera and stitch them together.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to do with that. And trying to take photos with your standard camera while trying to keep track of your dog, who is excited to be out,  doesn’t work out so well. So I settled for my phone. It took me five tries in several places before I got one that I was satisfied with. The sky is my favorite part of this photo.

This is at the Rocky Valley trail at Pinnacle Mountain. You can find more of my photos from that hike on Arkansas Women Bloggers. I did there Wordless Wednesday for this past week.

Week 5: Black and White Landscape

Cemetery 2

Week 5’s Dogwood 52 challenge was to do a black and white landscape. I have been wanting to photograph Mount Holly Cemetery for a while and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to do that.  Photographing old cemeteries is a lot harder than I thought it would be. It was also a really windy day and I was trying to stay warm. I think what made it the most difficult was trying to get in the right spot to get the most tombstones.  This was actually the second post I did for the challenge and the one most people preferred. After thinking about it I like it better than the other one I chose. Be sure to check out the album on Flickr.

Week 2: Landscape
Every year people make New Year’s resolutions. I have made several this year. And I have been able to keep pretty much all of them. One of my resolutions was to photograph more. So I became part of a group that is doing a 52 week photo challenge. It was originally started by a gentleman for his students and just got bigger. Every week there is a new subject matter for what needs to be photographed. Last week’s challenge was landscape.

Now I enjoy hiking but it is mainly something I do with my husband. I don’t usually go alone but he has started school so he isn’t able to go with me. You don’t really have a choice when you want to get sunrise photos.  I got up really early and headed to Pinnacle Mountain. I work nights so anything before 11 is early. LOL!! I got lucky and the gate was open before 6:30. I am a bit slow when it comes to hiking.  I thought I was going to die about half way up. But I made it with about 10 minutes to spare before sunrise. It was an amazing view.  I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to do it again. Maybe when it’s a little warmer.

As a side note: Apparently, I am weird because I was more worried about mountain lions than being kidnapped. I was the only person there except for this lady who was walking her dog. My husband was very worried about me. But I randomly texted him so all was good.
