Barbie: The 11 1/2 inch American Icon
Last Friday night was the opening reception for my Barbie Exhibit. I was so excited. It has been a year-long process and it definitely paid off. I loved it all. The staff did an excellent job with everything. It was a very stressful day though. My hairdresser didn’t show so I had to find someone else to do it. The wonderful Amanda from Ooh La La did an excellent job and was able to get me in and out as quickly as she could. I was definitely grateful. I am blond you just cant tell very well because of the lighting.
I also enjoyed making the little girls day. I was like a real life Barbie. They were so cute. My mom made me a dress for the night and it was awesome. I think I was really in my element. I am really shy and have a hard time talking to people. But it was really easy talking about Barbie. Especially when you hear the misconceptions about her. It was also great seeing the older women there who had played with Barbies as young girls.
So there was this guy at my exhibit that we thought looked kind of like Ken. Everyone wanted me to get my picture with since he looked so much like Ken and I was obviously Barbie. I was to shy to ask him so the coordinator of the event. He was a really good sport about posing with me and we had a lot of fun.
This is only a few of my photos. Here is a link to the rest of my photos on Flickr.
